BUDE AT WAR MAP - CROOKLETS AREA

The GI Dance is coming to town!

On Saturday 16th  September at The Parkhouse Centre in Bude, there will be fantastic double billed GI Dance. Starting at about 7.30pm, you will be entertained by Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band AND The Liberty Sisters. Wall to wall music for the whole evening. Full bar.

Tickets will be on sale soon. Concessions for Veterans,       Re-enactors and volunteers.

SATURDAY 16 SEP 2017

10am-3pm: Code Breakers - Morse Code Tent, behind the Surf Club.

10am-3pm: Main Camp open for viewing and historical talks of original military vehicles and  re-enactment groups portraying actual Allied military groups, and ENSA Entertainment.

10am-3pm: The REAL Enigma Machine from Bletchley Park will be at Bude SLSC. Talks from Bletchley mathematician and historian will run every hour. Tickets will be available to buy.

10am-3pm: Blitz Experience. Sessions running hourly.

10 until completion:  Vintage body boarding starts at Bude SLSC. See the costumes, enjoy the waves of Crooklets. 

12noon-3pm: Ghosts of soldiers positioned in Bude Town paying remembrance to the troops. Specific points of interest will be displayed so you know what the town was like during this time.

All Day: Community Art Exhibition based on the memories of local people at The Crooklets Inn. Lindy Hop and the fabulous Beach Hut Market Street on the sea front for exhibitions and Donut Dollies stall, & Free educational War Trail.
Also Blitz Experience. Sessions running hourly, at the old Crooklets Beach Office.

7:30pm: GI Dance at The Parkhouse in Bude with Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band and the Liberty Sisters.  Tickets available for £15


SUNDAY 17 SEP 2017

10am: Join us at the Ranger's Memorial on top of Summerleaze Downs for a commemorative service. Vicar, Bugler, time for reflection and thanks.

11am-4pm: Main Camp: Open all day for the public to view camps, military vehicles and chat to re-enactors. Educational, informative. 

11am: Bude SLSC: Speeches from Churchill and Eisenhower to the troops from the club balcony.

12pm:  Beach Arena: D-Day training beach assault by First Wave 44.  Cliff Climb and 'Pointe du Hoc Assault'. Weapon displays.           

1:30pm: Vintage Surf Life Saving demonstration showcasing the original reel and line surf life saving techniques used pre and post WWII from Australia.

2pm-4pm: ENSA entertainment from The Surf Club Balcony. Bude Metric Brass band playing swing!

All Day: Community Art exhibition based on the memories of local people at the Crooklet's Inn. Lindy Hop and the Beach Hut Market Street on the sea front for exhibitions and Donut Dollies stall, plus Free educational War Trail.

4pm: Closing ceremony.
